"Autumn
Boulevard" was the fruit of my fond memory of my profound experience
of Paris from 1962 till 1966. The boulevard I have portrayed is the
exact copy of the scene which appeared before my eyes while I was
walking towards the wood at Fontainebleau. What moved me was to describe
its marvels and I could note that my eyes did not deceive me. Its
portrayal was long and laborious, even if I had the help of a black
and white photograph. But the memory of that sea of foliage in a unique
autumnal red helped me to overcome the chromatic difficulties which
arise when one works from the thread of memory. Those forays into
Paris inspired me to carry out a series of works representing the
costumes and grey colours characteristic of Paris, describing a searched
neorealismo then from the collectors.
